La Sportiva Mountain CupNamed Colorado's "Best Race Series" by Colorado Runner Magazine in 2005 and 2008, the La Sportiva Vail Mountain Trail Running Race Series has become an iconic event, taking runners up trails and over mountain roads, through fields and forests and over streams in and around Vail for the past 17 years. New this year are two extended 11k courses in the Boneyard Boogie & EverGold & inclusion to La Sportiva's Mountain Cup Series with the Vail HillClimb - one of only 10 races in the country to be included in this industry pinnacle race Series for 2014!

Congratulations to La Sportiva for their recent annoucement of partnering with OrthoLite! Five of 2014's trail running shoe models will come equipped with OrthoLite insoles in two different approach models of two different thicknesses, including the ever-popular Wildcat, Helios, & Ultra Raptor styles (available late-March 2014).


 ATRATrail Running Series Recognized by American Trail Running Association

VRD's La Sportiva Trail Running Series was recently named by the American Trail Running Association as Race Standards Certified for exceeding measurements in safety, well-marked courses, timely results and awards, environmental responsibility, & excellent communication with racers prior to the event.

2014 Costs: $30 pre-registration; $40 day-of registration; $185 for the series (due by May 17th, 2014)

Pre-Registration must be received by 5:00PM the Friday prior to all races by the following methods:

5. After 5:00PM on Friday, racers can still receive pre-registration pricing by registering in person at the pre-determined Bib-Pickup/Race Packet Pickup location.  

Day-Of Registration will open 90 minutes prior to the start of all races on race morning. 

**Registration fees will be different for the La Sportiva Summer Solstice, with proceeds benefiting our charity partner, the Vail Valley Charitable Foundation.**

Race Information

Eagle Outside FestivalThis is the first year the Boneyard Boogie 11k Trail Run is being incorporated into the Eagle Outside Festival, a two day celebration to kick off the summeroutdoor season in Eagle, CO. The Festival will also include a vendor expo, bike demo area, Firebird 40 MTB race, Franken-bike-athon, & a friendly Chromoly Chef competition. Check out the Festival website for a complete schedule & more information.

Day-of registration for the Boogie will open from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Eagle Pool and Ice Rink. Pre-registered racers can pick up their bibs at the start, located at Eagle Valley Middle School.

The race will begin at 9 a.m. The start will be at Eagle Valley Middle School and the race will finish at the Eagle Pool and Ice Rink.

Parking

We encourage everyone to park at the Eagle Pool and Ice Rink and take a warm-up run to the Eagle Valley Middle School for the start of the race. Parking will also be available at Eagle Valley Middle School near the start. There will be shuttle service provided by AmericInn Lodge & Suites for race participants from the pool to the trailhead. Please note there is a 1.6 mile distance between start and finish; coordinate accordingly. Please see the 'Directions from Finish to Start' map above for details.

Please note that registration fees for this race are $35 pre-registration and $45 day-of; fee includes lunch and entertainment for all racers. $5 of each registration benefits VVCF.

Race Information

The course begins and finishes in Creekside Park. The race will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed by an after party in Creekside Park.

After Party and Prizes

Following the race, racers are invited to enjoy BBQ and live entertainment in Creekside Park. Awards will be presented to the top 3 men and top 3 women in each age category for 10k runners. Prizes will also be given to the top 3 men and top 3 women overall 5k runners.

Parking

Please park in any of the Beaver Creek Village parking structures or in the Beaver Creek Elk and Bear shuttle lots at the base of Beaver Creek. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Race Information

La Sportiva Mountain CupNamed a featured race in the 2014 La Sportiva Mountain Cup & also best trail race by Colorado Runner Magazine in 2006 and 2011, the HillClimb tests local, regional and national runners with a 7.5 mile climb from Vail Village to Vail Mountain’s summit, a gain of 2,500 vertical feet. The race begins at 8 a.m. in Vail Village next to Vail’s Mountain Haus and ascends a gravel double-track to the finish line at Eagle’s Nest. The Eagle Bahn Gondola in LionsHead operates from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. for race-day spectators and volunteers. The HillClimb is presented by the Vail Mountain Haus and is the third race of the 2014 La Sportiva Vail Mountain Trail Running Series. Day-of registration available on race morning from 6:30-7:45 am in front of Vail's Mountain Haus next to the Covered Bridge.

Golden Peak Children's Center, Vail | July 20, 2014 | 8 a.m.

Race Information

The race will begin at the Golden Peak Children's Center in Vail at 8 a.m. and finish at Eagle's Nest. On-site registration will start at 6:30 a.m.

The Lionshead Gondola which accesses Eagle's Nest is open for spectators to ride to the top for Free from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Failure to load the gondola by this time will make it so you will not be able to access Eagle's Nest without paying a daily scenic ride ticket.

Course Description

The Vail Half Marathon course starts at the Golden Peak base area on a dirt service road before ascending Windisch Way. Windisch is a steep double-track climb up to Gitalong Rd. before turning left onto Mill Creek Rd. Runners follow Mill Creek Rd. for 1 mile before turning right onto South 6, a single-track that climbs another ¾ miles through tall trees to the Village Trail, a dirt double-track that takes runners 2.5 miles to Mid Vail. Here, runners access Lower Lucy’s Loop, cross Village Trail to Upper Lucy’s Loop, & return to MidVail. Back at Mid Vail, runners climb the MidVail Escape, a single-track with plenty of elevation gain for the next 2.5 miles. At the top,runners access the Grand Traverse via Klosers Klimb. The Grand Traverse stretches through Vail’s famous back bowls alongside amazing fields of flowers with beautiful views of mountain ranges back to the finish line at Eagle's Nest near the top of the Eagle Bahn gondola.

Please park in the Vail Village parking structure or at the Lionshead Parking structure. there is no parking available at the Golden Peak Children's Center.

The race begins at 8 a.m. at the base of the Eagle Bahn Gondola in LionsHead, testing runners of all abilities on both single-track and double-track terrain with an average grade of 14 percent. The race ends at Eagle's Nest at the top of Vail Mountain. The Eagle Bahn Gondola in LionsHead operate from 8 to 9 a.m. for race-day spectator and volunteer uploading.

Eagle's Nest, Vail | Aug. 24, 2014 | 9 a.m.

Race Information

The 10@10 features both 5k and 10k trail running race distances to give everyone the opportunity to get out and race! Both races start at 9 a.m. at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola at Eagle's Nest on Vail Mountain, with both the 5k and 10k races taking place above 9,000 feet of elevation with the high point at nearly 11,000 feet. The average grade of the 10k is 7 percent with an elevation gain of 1,172 feet. Both races finish at Eagle's Nest at the top of the mountain. Online pre-registration: ends at 5pm on Friday, August 22nd. Day-of registration available at the base of the Gondola from 7:30 to 8:30am. The Eagle Bahn Gondola opens for racers and spectators from 8 to 9am. Please arrive to the gondola no later than 8:30am to ensure an on-time start!

Sept. 14 - La Sportiva EverGold 5k & 11k Trail Run

 Vail Golf Club | Sept. 14, 2014 | 10 a.m.

Race Information

The seventh and final race in the Vail Recreation District's (VRD) La Sportiva Vail Mountain Trail Running Series, the EverGold 11k and 5k will begin and end at the Vail Golf Club. Runners traverse along the Vail Trail to Golden Peak, up the popular Berry Picker trail to Lion Down, & back to Golden Peak before finishing back on the Vail Trail for a distance just over seven miles. Runners experience an average grade of 10 percent and gain nearly 1,700 feet in elevation throughout the race. Those participating in the 5k will also run on the Vail Trail to Golden Peak before turning around on the Vail Trail back to the Vail Golf Club.

Parking

Parking is available at the Vail Village Parking Structure. NO RACER PARKING AT THE VAIL GOLF CLUB! Runners can either run 1.6 miles to the race start at the Vail Golf Club from Vail Village Parking Structure or take a free shuttle ride, which will run from 8:30am-10am. Please arrive no later than 9:15 am for the shuttle to ensure you make it to the starting line on time!

Return shuttle service from the Vail Golf Club back to the Vail Village Parking Structure will run from 11:30am-1:30pm at the conclusion of both races and the awards ceremony.

After Party

A complimentary continental breakfast to be offered to runners at the Happy Valley Grill at the Vail Golf Club following the race during the Series Awards Ceremony around 11:30am. Coffee, juice, and breakfast items will be provided.
