Named Colorado's "Best Race Series" by Colorado Runner Magazine in 2005 and 2008, the La Sportiva Vail Mountain Trail Running Race Series has become an iconic event, taking runners up trails and over mountain roads, through fields and forests and over streams in and around Vail for the past 16 years. The 2013 La Sportiva Mountain Trail Running Race Series offered runners approximately 52 miles of scenic racing, for a total elevation gain of 16,475 feet and more breathtaking views than we can count. Races take place May through mid September with the 2013 series marking 16 years of trail running racing in the Vail Valley. Costs are $29 preregistration or $39 day-of.

New for the 2013 season, the VRD is partnering with locally-owned Vail Valley businesses to offer our trail running community an awesome way to recover from the long grueling climbs and descents of race-day competition with the Refuel Program! At the end of each series race, we'll have energy-packed items like bagels, muffins, granola, and pastries to feed all you hungry runners to jumpstart your recovery. Whether you just ran a PR or you merely survived the climb, we want to refuel everyone with a nutritious, local, and tasty alternative that will have you asking for seconds!
