JOHN A. DOBSON ARENA

John A. Dobson Arena provides a wide array of recreational activities for the Vail community. The arena, a 35,000 square foot multi-purpose facility, is the largest of its type on the Western Slope of Colorado. Dobson Arena is the site for the Vail Figure Skating Festival and the Vail Invitational Skating Championships.

Dobson Arena has also become a favorite stop on the training schedule for NHL teams like the St. Louis Blues, Dallas Stars, Colorado Avalanche, San Jose Sharks, New York Rangers and the New Jersey Devils. Locally, Dobson Arena is home to the Vail Junior Hockey Club and Skating Club of Vail.

For the recreational skater, Dobson Arena hosts open skating sessions and lessons for all ages and abilities.

Dobson arena also offers a wide array of hockey options for both the beginning youngster to the seasoned adult player.

Dobson Arena underwent a major expansion and face-lift in the summer of 2001. The Arena now features one new large locker room and a full remodel of the existing locker room spaces, the addition of a 600 square foot multi-purpose room and a new loading and unloading area. The remodel also included replacing Dobson's aging ice systems with a state of the art plant, as well as new dasher boards and glass.
