2022 Year In Review - Vail Golf Club

The image shows a logo with the text "2022 YEAR IN REVIEW" and initials "VRD" for Vail Recreation District.

The Vail Golf Club had a busy 2022 season with 22,859 total rounds of golf played! The golf course was in the best shape it has been in years, thanks to Golf Superintendent Jacob Tilmann and his golf maintenance staff. Thank you to all our staff for their positive attitude, exceptional customer service and hard work!

Maintenance Work

The 2022 golf maintenance season was a true success. During the spring, we completed phase two of our three-phase golf course greens renovation project. Golf greens 3, 12, 13, 15, 16 and 17 were completely renovated by adding a new sand base, new drainage and new bentgrass turf. We also renovated the greenside bunkers on those golf holes by adding new drainage and a liner for added defense against weeds and rocks. We also reshaped the edges and added new bunker sand.

For the first time, we hosted the Colorado PGA Women's Championship, a two-day tournament. Director of Golf Alice Plain finished in 5th place, a wonderful accomplishment especially considering she is usually too busy running the golf club to play! We plan to host this successful event again in 2023.
