The Vail Nordic Center pro shop is now open! All 17K of Skiing Trail and 10K of Fatbike and Snowshoe trail have been rolled but remain in early season condition.

When snow blankets the Vail Golf Club, it becomes the full-service Vail Nordic Center. Glide along 17 kilometers of daily-groomed skate and classic track, or snowshoe on 10 kilometers of scenic trails. For a new experience, check out our 13K of fat bike trails and fat bike rentals! The exceptional staff offers daily lessons on classic and skate skiing and specialty clinics on technique and tuning for adults and children, plus a wide variety of rental equipment is available.

The Nordic Center also serves as a one-stop shop for all your Nordic and backcountry needs including clothing, accessories, backpacks and snowshoes. The pro shop carries a full line of Fischer, Salomon and Rossignol skis and boots; Swix, Salomon, Bjørn Dæhlie, Kari Traa and Dynafit clothing, Crescent Moon snowshoes, and the valley’s most comprehensive waxes from Swix and Toko.  Rentals are available for classic, skate and backcountry skis, snowshoes, fat bikes and sleds to pull kids. The Vail Nordic Center is also an official Rossignol demo center.

The Nordic Center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the winter season. The Nordic Center track is maintained and groomed daily at 8 a.m. for skate and classic skiing. If six inches of snow falls by midday after grooming, the snowmobile with the sled will be pulled over the 5K loop for additional grooming.

The Grill on the Gore restaurant in the Vail Golf & Nordic Clubhouse offers a signature soup and chili lunch, as well as snacks and hot drinks to warm up and recharge.

An evening race series as well as larger weekend events offer opportunities for competition, while daily lessons in classic and skate skiing and specialty clinics will offer the chance to learn and practice new skills.

Current Trail Conditions

  • As of Tuesday, November 19th all 17K of Skiing Trails and 10K of Fat Bike and Snowshoe trails have been rolled.  The Vail Nordic Center remains in early season conditions with variable snowpack,  please use caution when using the Vail Nordic Center Trail System. 
  • The Vail Nordic Center will not charge for trail passes until we are able to groom classic pan.

Lessons and Clinics

The Vail Nordic Center's PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America)-certified instructors have one goal - to make cross-country skiing easy and fun. A short lesson will provide technique tips to develop new skills, build confidence, and open up new aspects of the sport. A variety of lessons are offered to meet your needs and specialized clinics take place throughout the season.

The Vail Nordic Center also offers demo days, waxing clinics and more!

Beginner Group Lessons (75 Min.):

Nordic Events

2024/25 Vail Nordic Town Series Races 

These races are put on by the Ski & Snowboard Club Vail.
Day-of, on-site registration | $5 for 1K & 3K races, $10 for 5K and up
Early-season racers should have headlamps!

2024 Vail Nordic Ski Swap 

Join us on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vail Nordic Center (1775 Sunburst Drive) for the annual SSCV Vail Nordic Swap! Buy or sell skate, classic, backcountry, Alpine Touring and telemark skis, snowshoes and other related gear and clothing. Entry is $5 per person and free after 12 p.m. - everything is 50% off after 12 p.m.

Gear check-in will take place on Fri, Nov. 8 from 3-6 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 9 from 8-9 a.m.

Equipment and Gear Pickup - Sat, Nov. 9 from 1 - 2 p.m.  

This event is organized by and benefits the Ski & Snowboard Club of Vail!
