2023 Year in Review - Vail Nordic Center

The Vail Nordic Center had a great 2022-23 season! Sales were up, customer satisfaction scores were high, trail grooming went well, and we had a fun crew at work. We had new full-time, year-round Vail Recreation District employees working at the Vail Nordic Center for the first time, and they learned quickly and proved to be great members of the team. Our staff participated in Tuesday night skinning and Nordic skiing outings, which helped with bonding as well as improving skills on the snow. Between lessons, clinics, Nordic races, snowshoe tours, rentals, waxing and general customer service, our staff was kept busy throughout the season.

Our challenges included supply issues with vendors - it proved difficult getting boots for retail in the beginning of the season, which was stressful, but we were able to get enough in stock to manage ski sales until more boots arrived in February. We also had a slow start to the season due to lack of snow, but it picked up once Mother Nature finally cooperated. Phew!

Over 200 skiers participated in two Town Series Races! We also hosted two high school races with over 180 participants.
