2023 Year in Review - Community Programming

At Community Programming, we are proud to have operated very successful, high demand programming including KidZone After School, School's Out Camps, Camp Vail, Pre Kamp Vail, Launch Into Summer, Extreme Camp Vail, mountain bike camps and skateboard camps as well as running the Imagination Station in Lionshead. Our success was especially notable as we had three full-time staff in their first year of their new positions in 2023.

We saw increased participation in all programming for 2023. KidZone After School has progressed over the years from a typical demand of 20-30 children each afternoon to upwards of 50 children in the program.

In the spring of 2023, we added Tamyra Fultz to our full-time team. Adding this new position allowed us to keep a consistent schedule at the Imagination Station. It also enabled us to open high capacity registration for After School and Schools Out Camps, instead of opening it at low capacity and having a waitlist due to the uncertainty regarding part-time staff availability. This meant that parents and families had solidified childcare.

A big change that was enacted in 2023 was prioritized summer day camp registration:

  • Level 1 (Eagle County Student AND Eagle County workforce): 317 children approved for registration
  • Level 2 (VRD homeowner OR Eagle County workforce): 165 children approved for registration
  • Level 3 (All-Access): 185* children approved for registration
  • Camp Vail weeks 1-3 saw all participation from all three levels
  • Camp Vail weeks 4-10 saw 90% Level 1 participants
  • Pre Kamp Vail saw a mix of all three levels for the entire summer, and 50% of the participants were Levels 2 or 3

Our campers enjoyed another fun summer with outings around Vail - thank you to the Vail Fire Department for spending time with them!
